This was the first Task Order project awarded under the City of San Diego’s newly piloted MACC (Multiple Award Construction Contract) program. Selected from a prequalified group of five short-listed contractors, TC Construction was required to design and build two large water and sewer main replacement projects. 

The work consisted of design-build services for the removal and replacement of:

• 12,500 feet of 8 inch through 16 inch water mains
• Fire hydrants, services, and associated appurtenances
• 2,000 feet of 8 to 15 inch sewer mains
• Laterals, manholes and private sewer lateral re-plumbing
• Concrete pedestrian ramps, slurry sealing, asphalt paving and striping

This project was particularly challenging as it was located in several different areas across south San Diego County. These areas included Cal Trans right of way, major streets, and residential neighborhoods, all of which required community outreach and varying traffic control requirements.
