TC Construction was contracted to install over 4,500 linear feet of new 18 inch SDR 35 and 26 gravity sewer main for the new Costa Verde Center in University Town Center. The project was very complex because of challenging conditions within the pipeline alignment. Sound monitoring and mitigation were required in sensitive areas because of bird breeding season. Local traffic conditions required all work on the project to be performed at night. A 170 foot section of the pipeline was installed on the side of the Genesee bridge over the NCTD railway. 18 inch ductile iron pipe was installed inside of a 30 inch steel casing on the bridge. NCTD training and flagmen were required during the 4 day, 10 hour shifts. Specialty equipment was used to install the hangers and pipe from above the bridge deck. We also up sized 12 inch PVC to 20 inch HDPE via pipe bursting. Multiple bypasses were installed to maintain sewer system flow during construction of the new alignment. Several laterals were also up sized and bored across Genesee in an effort to minimize construction cost and traffic delays. The project included installation 1.5 inch of curb to curb, asphalt grind and overlay.
