Camino Del Sur Recycled Water Conversion

Camino Del Sur Recycled Water Conversion

City of San Diego

Camino Del Sur & 56 Freeway

$1,103,890

2014

Description

The scope of work for this project was unique because of two important requirements by the City of San Diego. First, the City had two recycled water systems that had been installed previously, one system was north of the SR-56 Freeway and the other to the south. This project was designed to link the two systems together through the Caltrans right-of-way and convert the southerly water system from potable to reclaimed water. TC Construction was contracted to install 2,550 linear feet of 16 inch PVC to allow the system connection. There were also several locations where a conversion and/or transfer of potable water to reclaimed water was required. Because of the Caltrans right of way, TC was required to sleeve 800 linear feet of the pipeline with a 26 inch HDPE casing. Secondly, the City had a section of 24 inch steel water line on a steep slope off the SR-56, that was exposed. We were tasked with excavating down and around the pipeline, while supporting the pipe and building the sub grade and slope around it. Several cut off walls were installed and slurry backfill around the pipe to ensure that future erosion would be minimized.

TC Construction and our subcontractors also improved the roadway with final slurry seal, striping, and ADA pedestrian ramps.
