The La Media Road Improvements Project will enhance safety, provide congestion relief, and a much needed, improved access road for freight trucks to Otay Mesa Port of Entry. The scope of the project includes:
Widening 4800 linear feet of La Media Road from 2 lanes to 6 lanes, between SR-905 and Siempre Viva Road
Installing a new storm drain system with two 7 barrel box culverts, and one 4 barrel box culvert
Raising the road in a flood channel, adding from 2 feet to 6 feet in height, requiring the importation of over 36,000 cubic yards of fill
Relocating sewer, water and electrical utilities
Adding new traffic signals, streetscape, sewer, water, curbs, low water landscaping
Adjoining work of wetland mitigation site Improvements of over 6.552 acres
Including offsite addition of 1.128 acres of vernal pool, and enhancement of existing vernal pools (approx. 3 miles east)
Converting SDGE partial underground on Airway Road; relocation of overhead transmission mains on La Media Road; relocation of gas main on Airway Road; AT&T/Cox partial underground conversion on Airway Road
