La Jolla Shores / Pacific Beach Trunk Sewer

- This project included construction of 2,200 LF of 21" open cut sewer line, 1,100 LF of a rib-and-lag tunnel, over 5,000 LF of 8" sewer line and 61 house replacement sewer laterals
Unique Aspects
- One of the project highlights was the 20' x 40' x 36' deep steel
beam-and-plate pit on La Jolla Boulevard, providing access for 1,100
lineal feet of 21" tunneled sewer line. The open cut portion goes to a
depth of 21' and involved installation of just under a 1/2 mile of 21"
sewer line
- Replacing individual, residential sewer laterals required great care during the removal of the existing sewer lateral from homeowners' backyards and installation of new sewer laterals in the front of the properties to be connected to the new service line
- Work also included site improvements, paving work, extensive landscaping and more than a mile and a half of traffic control on La Jolla Boulevard
